CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY INITIATIVE

The School Governing Council approved the CSR programme in Academic Year 2009/2010 as part of the School’s

contribution to the rehabilitation of inmates (Prisoners) so that they are able to re-settle back in the community upon release.

Under the School’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Faculty coordinates the teaching, examining of students Luzira

Upper Prisons (LUP) Inmates. Successful students are recommended to the Academic Board for the award of Certificates and

Diplomas.                  

 

LUZIRA UPPER PRISONS INMATES STUDY PROGRAMME 

Currently only two programmes are offered;

  • Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management (CESBM)
  • Diploma in Entrepreneurship (DES).

Enrollment

Since its inception in academic year 2009/10, the programme has attracted the following number of inmates’ enrollment.

Graduation

Each year students graduate from their respective programmes at MUBS Main Campus in absentia because they are

confined in Prisons. A Total of 192 students have graduated from the programme since the inception. The Faculty annually

holds a special Certificate award Ceremony for the inmates to commemorate the students’ achievement since they are unable

to graduate in person at MUBS Main Campus. Below is a statistical summary of graduates on this programme for the period

2011 – 2017.
